George Tabori Prize

2011 for the second year, the Endowment Fund for Performing Arts has been awarding the George Tabori Prize for outstanding ensembles in professional independent theatre and dance.

The fund-appointed jury, comprising Dieter Buroch (Artistic Director of the Mousonturm, Frankfurt am Main), Johannes Odenthal (programme coordinator at the Akademie der Künste, Berlin) and Daniel Wetzel (author and director, Rimini Protokoll, Berlin), selected the Berlin-based theatre company NICO AND THE NAVIGATORS from among six nominated ensembles, awarding it the first prize of 20,000€. The award, created by sculptor and painter Christian Peschke, has been presented on May 27th.

We are thrilled to receive this award and want to thank the members of the jury on behalf of the entire ensemble. Furthermore we would like to congratulate director Peter Atanassow and his Berlin-based ensemble aufBruch KUNST GEFÄNGNIS STADT on winning the prize money of 10,000€ for most promising artistic ensemble.
